This month’s issue of Spirituality and Health features a in depth feature on MC Yogi and the making of his album “Pilgrimage.”
In what might be the most creative celebration of legendary peace activist Mahatma Gandhi’s 143rd birthday today, MC Yogi has unveiled the new mix and music video for the fan-favorite song, “Be The Change.” The animated video chronicles Gandhi’s life, achievements and empowers viewers to act for justice without using violence.
Equal parts Indian raga and old school hip-hop, “Be The Change” is a labor of love spanning four years of creative collaboration between rapper MC Yogi, musical co-producers Robin Livingston and Niraj Chag and animator Michael Rosen of Samplistic Media. The first incarnation of “Be The Change” was released in anticipation of the 2008 presidential election. Four years later, the song and official video celebrate another crossroads for conscious leadership and peaceful action.
“‘Be The Change’ is my ode to the life of Mahatma Gandhi and a reminder that with great Love and dedication we can change ourselves and in turn, change the world around us.” - MC Yogi
Earlier This Year, Amanda and I recieved a phone call from Michelle Obama’s office, we were invited to become Faith Ambassadors for the LETS MOVE initiative she started to help encourage young people to live a more healthy active lifestyle. As we travel the globe performing and teaching, our mission is to get people moving weather it’s on the yoga mat or on the dancefloor! I hope you’ll join us in this great movement to get America up and going again. Here’s some fun photos from when we taught yoga on the white house lawn. Photos by Eric Tabora.
